How do you usually deal with combat in multiplayer? I didn't scour the options, and I'm hoping someone knows something I missed. I don't want to give up hope on the game, so I'm posting here for suggestions. So it would seem neither auto combat or manual combat is a good option, and I'm left wondering if we can even play this in multiplayer. Even when the estimated outcome was something like "almost certain victory", it would usually result in a total defeat and loss of all units. Unfortunately, that seemed to play out egregiously unfairly in favor of the AI. If there was a way to let them control some units or something for them to do during the battle, it may not be so bad, but I didn't see any option other than sit and wait.Īfter seeing that, we decided to let the computer resolve the combats, like most 4X games. I can only imagine the amount of waiting this would create if playing the whole game this way. When 1 player started manual combat, the other had to just sit and watch it play out. I started a quick test skirmish with 1 other friend, just to see if we could make it work, and we were happy to find there was good flexibility on setting up teams, so we could play the way we wanted to.īut the problems began quickly once we started a combat. I played a bit of single player a few years ago and enjoyed it enough to always consider coming back to it. We've been playing W40k: Gladius lately and that works well, so started to look at AoW3 as another option. Some friends and I like teaming up to play games against AI armies.
